Our first annual Bulldog Cares Day of Service, held on Monday, October 10th, was a success! Over seventy students, teachers, and parents came out to SMM to clean, plant, paint, and build across the campus to help focus on environmental efforts at school!

Admissions for the 2023/24 school year will kick off with our Fall Open House, which will be held on Wednesday, October 19th at both 9am and 6pm.   Open House will include a presentation about our school programming, followed by personal school tours.  We hope you can join us!

Join us for our annual Fall Food Truck Festival! Friday, October 14th, from 6-9pm on the SMM campus! Grab dinner for the family with one of our 4 local food trucks: Mojo Loco ● Uncle John’s BBQ ● Kapow ● Frozen Sunshine ● Sprinkles Bakery The HSA will also be selling pizza by the slice (limited supply). We’ll have a DJ, balloon animals for our younger guests, beer and wine will be available for cash purchase, and a silent auction with some of our parent favorites!

SMM had the honor of hosting over 650 grandparents and special friends for Grandparents Day 2022! Visitors enjoyed performances by every grade, followed by time with their grandchildren for classroom visits. The smiles on the students and families faces were a testament to the love shared, and we are so blessed to have so many grand-friends as part of our community!

The SMM HSA presents: Designer Bag Bingo! Please join us for an evening of games, socializing and prizes! Doors open at 7pm, games begin at 7:30pm. Cost: $25/person which includes 3 bingo cards and a stamper for 10 rounds of bingo. Additional cards can be purchased: 10 cards for $5, or 30 cards for $10. *Adults only, must be 18 to play*

SMM is pleased to be featured in the Ministry of Caring's newsletter "Wazzup in the Ministry", detailing the longstanding partnership between the school and the organization. Highlights include the service provided during Catholic Schools Week 2022, showcasing the theme of Faith, Excellence, Service. We are honored to be able to serve the Ministry of Caring and to put our values of service into motion.

The 16th Annual SMM 3v3 will be held the weekend of March 11th & 12th in our gym. Proceeds for this year’s 3v3 event will benefit “Waggies by Maggie & Friends” The 7th & 8th graders will play on Friday night, March 11th, from 6:30 – 9:30 PM The 3rd & 4th graders will play on Saturday afternoon, March 12th from 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon The 5th & 6th graders will play on Saturday afternoon, March 12th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM All are welcome to join us at 12:00 Noon on Saturday for the Check Presentation and Alumni Game. The cost is $30 per team and each team will play a minimum of 3 showcase games (not elimination tournament style this year). Prizes will be awarded to the most creative team costumes.

The Scholastic Book Fair will run from October 1st through October 8th in our Learning Commons. Students will have the opportunity to shop for books during their library time with their class, and families are invited to attend from 3pm to 6pm on Thursday, October 7th. Families can also shop online at our school book fair site. Let's Raise Readers!

Join us for the 4th annual BULLDOG 5K, on Saturday, September 25th at 9am. This year, we will be celebrating St. Mary Magdalen Parish's 70th anniversary. Our out and back 5k runs through Sharpley, beginning and ending at St. Mary Magdalen School. Stick around after the race for ice cream, snacks and an award ceremony recognizing our race winners!

The Summer Packet includes information pertaining to Summer Reading, School Supply Lists, a tentative School Calendar, the Uniform Policy, and more. Please review all materials to help prepare you to return in the Fall. In the meantime, have a great summer!

Congratulations to the SMM class of 2017 alumni who were honored by the Diocese of Wilmington as St. Francis de Sales Honorees. This award is presented to outstanding Catholic school seniors who demonstrate excellence in faith development, service, scholarship, citizenship, and leadership. The honored SMM alumni are Anthony Mariano, Anne Shea, Abigale Townsend, Jack Kohn, and Emily Newcomb. We are proud of your continued efforts beyond your years at SMM!

Do you want to get more involved at SMM next year? The HSA is working to fill open positions on the HSA Board for the 2021-2022 school year. Serving on the HSA Board is a great way to benefit the SMM students and community. SMM is also seeking volunteers to serve as New Family Sponsors to be matched with a New Incoming Family. This is a great way to meet our newest SMM families, and take part in the community. No prior experience is necessary.

Join us for the HSA sponsored event, Designer Bag Bingo! This virtual gathering allows you to enjoy the SMM community and win beautiful designer bags, all from the comfort of your home! Our Catholic Schools Week service was a huge success! We donated over 8,000 pairs of socks to the Ministry of Caring during our monthly drive as well as delivering 600 meals to their three dining rooms. Well done, Bulldogs!

SMM will be hosting personal school tours on Sunday, January 31st, from 1-3pm, to celebrate Catholic Schools Week.  All visitors to SMM will be required to wear a mask while on campus, and tours will be socially distanced with staggered start times to allow families to move through our facilities in personal groups.   We can't wait to meet more prospective families! The Diocesean theme for this school year is "Called to Serve", and as a school, we will be focused on the Corporeal Works of Mercy throughout the year. We began the year with an opening mass, led by our sixth grade students. The Dialog covered the event, highlighting the vital aspects of service to others.
